Working with DFO and PSC experts, this project will apply the Shiraz-Malbec cumulative effects framework to multiple sockeye stocks with strongly contrasting smolt survival to develop a multi-stage stock analysis for Fraser sockeye (primarily Chilko) that will benefit from supportive research examining time series of sockeye data from Upper Columbia, WCVI-Somass and Central Coast Because sockeye from these three other areas have different early marine residences than Fraser sockeye, they will provide contrasts that will enable us to evaluate the importance of regional variations in early marine survival in the Strait of Georgia and Queen Charlotte Sound.
