King Salmon Lake Sockeye Enhancement

The purpose of this project is to obtain otolith samples from post-spawn sockeye salmon at King Salmon Lake (KSL) to determine the relative proportion of enhanced adult escapement. Such will provide follow-up monitoring for the sockeye egg take conducted at KSL in 2014. (That egg take, along with one in 2012 and a subsequent smolt sampling in 2013 and 2016 were previously funded by the Northern Fund.) With indications of very positive results observed thus far, there is an opportunity to continue this enhancement initiative, moving it from experimental in nature towards practical application.
