Scientific Information

The Secretariat Staff conducts in-season sampling programs and provides regular updates to the Fraser River Panel for use in establishing and fulfilling their management goals. Daily (as well as historical) test fishing results are posted on our website. Daily estimates of in-season gross escapement of Fraser River sockeye and pink salmon moving past Mission are also provided. Summaries of catch and escapement of Fraser River sockeye and pink are updated prior to each in-season meeting of the Fraser River Panel.

In recent years, concern has been raised about the abnormal migration behaviour of Late-run Fraser River Sockeye. Further information about this issue may be found here.

A workshop was held on June 7-10, 2004 in Seattle, Washington to examine and evaluate the Coded Wire Tag program. For information about the Workshop, please click here.
