Cowichan Juvenile Chinook Habitat Use Assessment to Direct Lower River & Estuary Rehabilitation

In close collaboration with DFO Research and Stock Assessment biologists, BC ConservationFoundation (BCCF) will design and implement a pilot Cowichan Chinook juvenile passive integrate transponder (PIT) tagging program to better understand migration timing and behavior of fry/fingerlings from mid and upper river spawning areas through lower river reaches and into the estuary. Results will direct anticipated lower river/estuary rehabilitation projects and resources targeting Chinook recovery in the watershed.
