Alaska Department of Fish & Game Mark, Tag and Age Laboratory Support

One of the MTA lab’s primary functions is to provide thermal mark recovery data to ADFG and Canadian Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada (CDFO) fishery managers. Such data are needed to effectively manage sockeye resources in the Transboundary Taku and Stikine Rivers in southeast Alaska and meet treaty obligations. Without support from the PSC Northern Fund to compensate for the loss of funds due to federal budget cuts, it is likely that the lab will be unable to meet these obligations in the future.
